Representing Partially Disabled Workers Throughout Connecticut
Most people who go through the workers' compensation are eventually told by their doctors that they are able to do light duty work, even if they cannot go back to their regular jobs while they continue to recover from their injuries. This is called temporary partial disability (TPD).
At the Law Offices of Ralph A. Russo, just outside Hartford, Connecticut, we counsel our clients on their rights while they are temporarily partially disabled. We do everything we can to help our clients receive the benefits they deserve. Contact us for a free consultation.
Helping Clients Navigate the Temporary Partial Disability Stage
If your regular job involves hard physical labor, significant mental strain or specific tasks that you can only perform with the body part that was injured in your accident, you will likely go through temporary partial disability while you are recovering.
In Connecticut, workers who qualify for temporary partial disability are obligated to at least look for light duty work in order to qualify for workers' comp benefits.
If your current employer has a job opening that you are qualified for and medically capable of doing, you have to be offered that job. However, your employer does not have to create a new job just for you, so you may have to look for temporary light duty work elsewhere.
Once you reach your maximum medical improvement, you may or may not be able to return to your regular job. In either case, you may be entitled to permanent partial disability benefits.
